Former Constitution Implementation Commission (CIC) Chairman, Charles Nyachae, has asked CORD leader, Raila Odinga, to halt the ongoing demonstrations because they will not solve the current impasse between the opposition and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
In an interview with Citizen TV’s Husssein Mohamed, Nyachae said the current stalemate between the opposition and IEBC can only be solved through Parliament and not through the streets.
Nyachae said IEBC commissioners should be hounded out of office in a constitutional manner and not through demonstrations.
He said demonstrations will only hurt the economy of the country and urged the opposition to look for more alternative ways that are within the constitution to solve the stalemate.
“The opposition should halt the demonstrations and look for more alternative ways of solving the IEBC impasse because violent demos and chest thumping will not solve the current crisis,” Nyachae said.
But Raila Odinga has maintained that the demonstrations will continue until all the nine IEBC commissioners resign.
