A section of Luhya community leaders have told CORD leader, Raila Odinga, to throw out a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he signed with Kalonzo Musyoka in 2013 because it is threatening the coalition’s unity.
In the MoU, Raila was to support Kalonzo’s presidential bid in 2017 but according to the former Prime Minister, this was only to happen if CORD won in 2013.
Speaking after meeting Raila in Kakamega town last week, the leaders urged the former PM to end the deal he entered with Kalonzo Musyoka before the 2013 General Elections.
“The elders demanded that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Wiper and ODM parties be thrown out as it threatens the existence of the coalition,” part of the statement issued by the leaders reads.
The leaders also petitioned Raila Odinga and his co-principals to nominate its flag bearer before 2017 in order to have enough time for campaigns.
They said if Raila fails to appoint his flag bearer before the end of August, Jubilee will have a walk in the park in 2017 because this will weaken the coalition.
