Interior Coordination Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery, has disbanded the Firearms Licensing Board and appointed new faces.
Curiously, the embattled CS has appointed George Waiguru, an official of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) believed to be related to embattled ex-Devolution CS, Anne Waiguru.
Other members who were appointed to the board include Maj Gen (Rtd) Enoch Sasia (chairman) who was sacked from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) over corruption related allegations.
Other members are Lillian Kiamba (DCI), Stanley Omucheyi (Police), Barnice Gachegu (Attorney General), Anthony Wahome (National Gun Owners Association of Kenya), William Sing’oei (KWS), James Ngului (Police) and Samuel Kimaru (Police) as the Secretary.
Nkaissery’s gazette notice comes a time the government is under fire after it revoked the firearm license of Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho.
Nkaissery ordered Joho to return his three guns but High Court judge, George Odunga, declared Nkaissery’s order unconstitutional.
