Senator Mike Sonko has accused unnamed Nairobi politicians of planning to "prosecute their competitors" and said he is going to secure his security.
Sonko did not name anyone in his Facebook post on Thursday but said "with what is on going, I will not take chances anymore. Try me at your own risk".
"Politics is dirty," he wrote, adding in Sheng: " Kuna cowards wanachora kuuwa wengine (There are cowards trying to kill others)."
Sonko has said he will run for Nairobi Governor in the August 2017 general election.
The Senator's bodyguard Bakari Tsuma, 38, was shot dead and his loaded pistol stolen in an attack on March 4, as he was returning to his house in Kasarani.
Some of his fans referred to the shooting in asking him not to be afraid.
John Maina said: "We are right behind you; we will die for you," while social media user Daudi Abeid ave spiritual encouragement and said: "You are a good leader, not a politician."
Others said they would pray for him and urged him to focus on his strengths and key matters.
