MOI to vie for Presidency against UHURU/ RUTO in 2017 to divide KALENJINs into two

KANU chairman, Gideon Moi, has hinted that he will vie for the Presidency in 2017 using the independence party, KANU.

Speaking in Tiaty sub county, Baringo County, on Sunday, Moi said that he has what it takes to vie for Presidency in 2017 and urged Kalenjin leaders to support his quest for the top seat.

Moi, the son of former President Daniel arap Moi, also slammed Deputy President William Ruto saying he has turned Rift Valley leaders into mere sycophants.

He said most of Rift Valley leaders are following Ruto blindly to avoid ‘political reprisal’ in 2017.

“The act by Rift Valley MPs was a show of cowardice. A mature and principled politician in any democratic society should stand up to defend his or her people rather than being swayed by leaders who just want to achieve their vested interests.” Moi said.

On the just concluded Kericho Senate by-election, Moi said that the Jubilee Government used its machinery to rig KANU candidate, Paul Sang, with over 50,000 votes.

Moi’s interests in the Presidency could mean a split in the Kalenjin community considering that Ruto wants to vie for President in 2022.
