Jubilee has no time for rhetoric and is busy discussing matters of national importance, the DP has said, and accused the opposition of "telling stories and gossiping".
Cord leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto have criticised each other in the past, the DP once asking Raila to end his "long lectures" on corruption.
“We have no time for rhetoric because that will not add value to the development of this nation,” Ruto said.
“Others are busy telling stories and gossiping about other leaders. Our work is to see how we can bring equality in terms of development to the entire country, not to dwell on rhetoric."
Noting the 2013 election is long gone and that it is time to serve the public, Ruto asked those interested in the leadership to face them in the August 2017 general election.
He spoke at Iterio in Kisii county on Sunday during an event in aid of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya (ELCK).
The DP defended a section of leaders who visited his home in Sugoi in December 2015. He held a ‘private’ meeting with 5,200 leaders from the Rift Valley about formation of the Jubilee Party.
“I do not see the reason why people criticise leaders who visited my home. People should stop taking others as political slaves,” he said.
Regarding education, Ruto said 60 per cent primary schools were supplied with electricity when the Jubilee took over, and that this has increased to 98 per cent.
He said Kisii has 799 primary schools, 220 of which have no electricity and said they will be connected in about a month. He asked the county to support he and President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration, saying they are determined to fulfill their pledges.
Among those present were Governor James Ongwae, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and MPs Zebedeo Opore (Bonchari), Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North) and Mustafa Idd (Kilifi South).
Maangi said he will continue working closely with Jubilee, which he described as strong in the county. He noted that the party won by-elections in Bonchari, Nyaribari Chache and Bomachoge Chache.
Idd, a member of ODM, said he will continue working with Uhuru and Ruto because he wants his people to "feel development".
Ruto later presided over a fundraiser in aid of boba boda operators in Nyamache, Bobasi constituency. He gave Sh2 million, including Sh1 million from the President.
