Speaking in Salawa, Baringo Central Sub County, on Saturday during a fundraiser, Moi said the 50 MPs had approached him citing dictatorship by Deputy President William Ruto and said that they want him to be the Kalenjin kingpin.
“The MPs could call to give me moral support and encourage me to clinch the post, as they feared supporting me publicly," Moi said.
Moi, who is also the Baringo Senator, said the MPs secretly rallied behind KANU throughout the campaigns.
The Senator said that though Jubilee Party candidate, Aaron Cheruiyot, finally carried the day, KANU had "major support" from some Rift Valley MPs.
However, Moi refused to divulge the names of 50 MPs who were secretly campaigning for Sang instead of Ruto’s candidate, Aaron Cheruiyot.
He said he will release the list in the coming days because they are a big embarrassment to their constituents.
